David Gelfand is a New York-based composer whose major influences are Bach, the 70s Minimalism of Glass and Reich, and the ambient process music of Eno.  Dave grew up in Brooklyn, New York, took his first piano lessons at 10, and began composing soon thereafter.  He graduated from the newly-established Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College, where he studied composition with Noah Creshevsky and music theory and history with Nancy Hager, Sherman Van Solkema, and Carole Oja.  His group, David Gelfand and the Joint Chiefs, brings his music to life in electronic, amplified performance.
